Bird watching trip to Sinhagad valley
02:34:00
Sinhagad bird valley is one of the amazing place for birding. It is the must visit place for every bird watcher and it is only 25Km away from Pune.
I was looking for place for bird watching this winter near Pune and suddenly remember about Sinhagad birds valley and planned it for 25th December 2014. Being a bird watcher I always love to visit Bird valley in the winter and recently had a beautiful birding trip to veer dam.
I left from home at 6.45 AM and reached base village by 7.15 AM. After enjoying the tea I headed towards valley and surprisingly found many photographers already occupied the best place for the great shot. First bird which I saw was male Asian Paradise Flycatcher but it was difficult for me to capture in camera. It was the great start from the popular bird :)
This place have many species of birds and migratory birds in winter. Also, you can find any professional photographer with big lens :P and waiting for hours to capture stunning views.
How to reach Sinhagad bird valley from Pune: I travelled to Katraj chowk from Kondhwa then follow the NH4 Highway till sinhagad road crossing, took left turn towards Sinhagad. If u are travelling from Pune city/Railway Station then travel till swargate, then take road towards Saras Baug and from there follow Sinhagad road. After driving for few Km you will find Khadahwasla Dam on left - Donaje Phata - Do not take right for Panshet Dam.
Go straight from Donaje Phata till base village parking. From base village take route towards top of Sinhagad by foot. The road on right will take you to top of Sinhagad fort and on the same left side will take you to Sinhagad Bird watching valley.
My last capture of Common Kingfisher in Khadakwasla Dam on my return ride to Pune from Sinhagad.
Enjoyed few hours of bird watching in this beautiful bird valley and left at 11AM and reached home back by 12. It was really a well spend half day birding trip.
