The Golden Temple is the most famous of all the Sikh Gurdwaras (meaning “Gateway of the Guru”), it is also known as “Harmandir Sahib” or “Darbar Sahib”. The start of the temple as well as its design is credited to the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjun, in the 16th century while the foundation of the temple was laid down by a Muslim saint Hazrat Mian Mir Ji of Lahore.

On the start of our Shimla trip, we first planned to visit Pinjore (Yadavindra) Garden in Panchkula district on Chandigarh-Shimla (Ambala-Shimla) national highway 21. Pinjore Garden is one of the must visit place and an important tourist attraction that one can visit when on the holiday to Chandigarh or going towards Shimla from Chandigarh.
