18:03:00
Rock Garden is a beautiful garden next to Sukhana Lake in Chandigarh, India, also known as “Nek Chand’s Rock Garden” after its founder Nek Chand. Inside you will find bridges, waterfalls, tunnels, passages and open-air setting.
This garden is a best example of using the recycled materials such as broken pots, old bricks, glass, bottles, electrical waste, tiles and many more in a beautiful way and this was one of the main moto of Nek Chand. Also Nek Chand was awarded the Padam Shri award by the Prime Minister of India in 1984 for his beautiful work with waste.
In 1976, this garden was official opened for Public and it is now visited by a large number of people all round the year.
We visited this place on our trip to Chandigarh from Pune and found this place extraordinary and deeply impressive. There are few waterfalls within the park which are popular spots for the visitors. I liked the waterfall of Phase 3 are exciting and wandering around the interlinked passages were quite interesting.
It is a must visit place if you are visiting Chandigarh.
