Rainy season is the best start for a quick trekking to some nearby fort around Pune. After some research and reading up some blog, I and my cousin decided to shortlist Rohida fort (Also known as Vichitragad). This fort is near Bhor which is about 65km from Pune. And it is famous for its wind and mist atmosphere.

Just before old Katraj tunnel
Rohida is easily accessible by state transport bus and Jeep, but we prefer to have a bike ride till the base village Bajarwadi. Trek route is very safe and wide but there is no trees on the whole trekking route.

My Cousin Mustafa!
Rohida fort is one of the forts captured by Shivaji Maharaj. It is small fort but interesting for trekking. For most of the time the fort is covered with dense fog in raining season.

Trekking path starts from the parking area and it takes around 1.5 hrs. to reach top with multiple stops for photo. The trek is easy and it will make sure you are completely exhausted while reaching on the top. It has some narrow path and flat sections in the middle where the crossing-wind is amazing!

As we keep walking wind speed and noise kept increasing. We have never ever experience so much wind before on any forts. Also, at some places you have to be standstill and wait for wind to stop then start climbing again. Make sure to cover your ears with cap/something so that it will be protected from wind.

Soon we reached the first gate of the Rohida fort. The main entrance is in good condition. There are three gates till we reach the top and fort consists of 6 bastions. All bastions are massive and solid in construction. There is old grinder on the top and there is a trail which takes you around the periphery of the fort. Best part of the fort is the cool breeze which make us refresh.
