Exploring the Ancient Architecture in Bidar Fort, Karnataka

Bidar fort in northern plateau of Karnataka is the historical monuments created in the ancient times of Bahmani Kingdom in the Deccan plateau in 1347 and most of the architectural style is of Persian architecture.
Bidar fort has seven gates in the fort and there are many places to be visited inside the fort as Takht Mahal, Tarkash Mahal, Rangeen Mahal, Gagan Mahal, Diwan-I-Am and Solah Khamba Mosque.
We visit this place on the bike ride from Gulbarga to Bidar, Bidar is one of the cities in north-eastern part of Karnataka in the Deccan plateau, in India. This is a must visit place if you are looking for great historical monuments of Bahmani era.
Access to the inside of the mosque is inaccessible with iron doors been fitted at the arches.
The name Tarkash perhaps given because the monument was built for the Turkish wife of the king, but a general conventionality is observed in giving names to the royal buildings.
The names Tarkash Mahal and Gagan Mahal are also mentioned in records of kingdoms like Bijapur and Golkonda.

This place has become popular after the shooting of Dirty Picture song “Ishq Sufiyaana” which had sequences in the fort with Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi and many other Telugu movies.

Solah Khamba Mosque is the Masjid with sixteen columns in the middle of the prayer hall and it was originally named as “Masjid-i-Jami”. It was built by Sultan Mohammed Shah, the son of first Bahmani ruler Ahmed Shah Wali.

It is also popularly known as “Zanana Masjid” and it is one of the largest Masjid in India.
The Tarkash Mahal in Bidar fort may have initially built by the Bahmanis but the upper parts are built during the Baridi rule in Bidar.

Takht Mahal also recognized as the throne palace which is the part of the Bidar Fort in Karnataka. This particular monument was once used by the royals of the Bidar rulers as their residence and it was build up by the Bahmani Ahmed-Shah-Wali in 1426-1432.

We have come to the end of our marvelous and memorable journey across the Bahmani Kingdom Architecture and it was the historical place which must be visited by tourist interested in Historical Architecture.
It took around 1 hour to covered the whole fort and most of the fort is demolished, so we only covered the main part of the fort and travel toward Chaukhandi.
