Lohagad fort is one of the more popular fort for trekking near Lonavala to visit from Pune. It is a beautiful fort around Pune which can be easily trek, also it has good road till the base of the fort.
This fort is still in good condition and very clean as compare to Sinhagad Fort. Also, it find less crowd as compare to Sinhagad Fort.
I had a plan to visit the fort via Pavna Dam but failed to travel last year post monsoon, So finally on 14th October 2014 me and my brother planned for a bike ride to Lohagad Fort after visiting Pavana Dam.
It has multiple routes to visit Lohagad fort, both the place which I travelled was too scenic.
Traveling from Base to top of the fort will take around 45 to 1 Hours with plenty of Photo breaks. Trekking this fort is very easy and scenic too.
After we reached the top of the fort suddenly the climate changed and it started raining slow and the whole scenery changed to the Impressive looks.

How to reach Lohagad fort from PuneIt has multiple routes to visit Lohagad fort, both the place which I travelled was too scenic.
From Pavana Dam (Dudhiware Khind village): This is the route
which we took while going to Lohagad, as we were travelling from Pavana Dam.
This is one of the scenic and greenery route after my Madhe Ghat trip. We took
NH4 highway from Katraj till Somatne Phata after crossing it we took a
left turn towards Pavana Dam which goes from Parandwadi and Shivane village.
Once we reached Pavana village we took the route going towards Panava Dam and
keep travelling on the side of Panawa Dam backwater, which was too scenic and
after few minutes we reached the narrow mountain cut as mentioned in my second
picture. Just after crossing this mountain we took a right turn and travelled
to the base of Lohagad Fort.
Second route via Malvali village/Bhaja Caves: This was the route
which we took while returning from Lohagad, this route is mainly taken by the
trekking group who travel by local train till Malvali Station. This route is
around 5-6 Km which take around 2-3 hrs on foot. We have travel by bike from
Lohagad to Malvali Station. Just after crossing the station we travel straight
to reach NH4 highway and travelled towards Pune to reach Katraj.
