Bike trip to Karde Beach near Dapoli on the Konkan coast

Karde beach is one of the calm, scenic and romantic beach on the Konkan coast (north of Dapoli) which is a must visit beach if you are staying in Pune, Mumbai and kolhapur. The water is calm, clean sand and the beach is quite too long.
This was the first collegemates planned trip outside Pune, hence it took few year to plan and finally on 28th February 2015 we started for the first beach trip from Pune on bike. We were not finalized on the plan till 27th February, so we didn't book any cab and started the scenic Summer cum Rainy ride.

First meeting point was Chandhani chowk, we had some snacks and started towards paud road towards Tahmini ghat, as this is one of the shortest and trusted road to reach Konkan via Tahmini ghat, Mangaon on NH17, Dapoli.

On my every trip to Konkan, I always made lots of attempts to go further south, also have a dream to ride all the way to Kanayakumari (Kerala) from Pune on Bike. Karde Beach was choosen as the place to go because of its calmness and scenic nature.

How to reach Karde Beach from Pune
Cross the scenic ghats either Tamhini, Varandha after Bhor or Mahabaleshwar, reach NH 17 (Mumbai - Edapally Goa Highway), drive on for few kms and take the turn from Veer railway station to Mandangad which is the fastest and best condition road and follow the route as suggested by Google maps (fastest route). There are many shorter internal routes but many are in bad shapes so batter to take the faster route suggested by Google maps. After Mandangad carry on the road towards Dapoli and than Karde. Both Varandha and Tamhini ghats are very scenic in the monsoon, but varandha is more deserted. If you are travelling in the late evening, go for Mahabaleshwar route, as both Tahmini and Varandha ghat are not safe after evening. Road condition till the Karde beach, Murud beach is in excellent condition.

On the Konkan coast, all the hotels have names as Sea view, Beach Side, On the Beach but they are not actually on the beach side, also the beach view is from the top floor. But in Karde, all the hotel is on the beach and every room has a beach view.

Must visit places to see near Karde : Ladghar beach (towards south) also known as Tamas Theertha for beautiful red sunset, towards north is Harnai a fishing village which have famous fish auction twice a day. Also visit Suvarnadurga Fort for the scenic views.
