Bike ride to Dhom dam near Wai

Wai village, a place which is most of the time ignore by all the casual traveler who travel to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar from Pune. Menavali Ghat and Dhom Dam/Lake is the most interesting place nearby Wai village. This is one of the favorite locations for Bollywood movies. Some of the movies which are shot here includes Swades, Chennai Express, Rab ne bana de Jodi, Singham, Dabangg.

We start from Pune (Kondhwa) and travel towards old Katraj Tunnel. From here we started on the NH4 highway towards Satara. After crossing Khambatki Ghat (best part of this ghat section is that it is one-way giving us freedom to slide and overtake slow vehicles even on a blind curve) you will find the signboards for Wai/Mahabaleshwar to take the right turn under the bridge to reach Wai.

Joshi Wadewale is the worst place to visit for snacks on NH4 near Khambatki Ghat, it is not hygienic, horrible washroom and horrible quality of food.

Single lane road towards Wai/Mahabaleshwar

Writing this post after a long time due to some issue, we visited Dhom dam in summer season which is the must visit place of Wai Village. Dhom Dam is the amazing place is situated near Wai village, Satara District. From Wai village it is around 8-9Kms. This 9Km stretch is full of greenery and mango trees on both side of the road.

We first visited the main entrance of Dhom dam but this is restricted for pubic, after spending few minutes we drive further and reach point where some of the people visit and very close to the water. This place is amazing, calm and glorious- you will find yourself standing in midst of the nature. We spend couple of hours roaming around and clicking best picture of the trip. It was really a great experience.
