18:35:00
Bannerghatta National Park is a popular tourist destination and around 22km from Bengaluru. It was our second day destination of our weekend trip to Bangalore. We woke up around 8AM and started the journey by local bus after having breakfast at Madiwala. We switched few buses from Madiwala to Bannerghatta via BTM Layout.
First thing to do at Bannerghatta National Park was to take the Safari to Wildlife Sanctuary. There are multiple options to book the safari; one can hire an AC/ NON AC bus or 4-6 Jeep. Also, there are various packages including Zoo, Butterfly Park and Safari etc. We took the whole package to cover Safari, Butterfly Park and Zoo.
In 2002 portion of the park become Bannerghatta Biological Park. Bannerghatta National Park includes a Butterfly Park, a Safari Park, a Zoo, a Snake House, and a Pet Corner.
Bannerghatta National park is divided into fenced zone and there are separate roads covering each part of zone. There were many parts of the safari like Herbivorous zone, Elephant zone, Bear zone, Lion and Tiger zone.
There are plenty of animals in Safari ride including with Sambar, Chital, Deer, Black Buck, Nilgai, Bison, Elephant, Beer, Loin and Tiger. At the end of Safari we have an option to get down and visit the Butterfly Park which have greenhouse zone which was very beautiful and full of butterflies. It also has a small man-made waterfall and a small pool full of fish.
Bannerghatta National Park gets really crowded during weekends and it takes around 1-2 hrs just to get tickets. Post getting tickets, you have to line up for the forest bus for Jungle safari which takes another 15-30 minutes.
