India Gate Delhi - National monument of India

India Gate is the popular national monument situated in the heart of Delhi, India. This place is also known as “All India War Memorial”. India Gate is a memorial to 82,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in the period 1914-1921 in the First World War. It is the magnificent 42m high architecture in the middle of a crossroad built in 1931.
India Gate is designed by Edwin Lutyens, who was the leading designer of the war memorials in New Delhi. The foundation stone of All India War Memorial was laid by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught in February 12, 1931.
This place is considered as Tomb for all the Great soldiers who were martyr for the pride of India, later another memorial "Aman Jawan Jyoti" was added to this after India got its independence.
We visited this place on a day trip to Delhi with HOHO sightseeing bus service, which is a popular bus service among the tourist in Delhi.
This is one of the most popular picnic spot in Delhi, as it have a large expanse of lush green lawns.
