Ekal Ka Rann is a less visited place in Kutch after the popularity of “Rann Utsav” which happens in Dhordo near Bhuj, but this place has its own uniqueness. The Ekal Ka Rann, named after the Ekal Mata Temple at the edge of the white desert, was a few kms from your stay (Meriya Nature Resort).

After completing our dinner we went to visit Ekal Ka Rann on a full moon, it was a simply amazing experience to witness this place. We were the only people on this Rann and few setup of pre-wedding photo-shoots. Also visiting a desert in full moon was the first experience for all of us.

Riding into the desert at Ekal can be a life-changing experience and it is perfectly legal. Also visiting in full moon for a night view of the desert at Ekal is way better than the White Desert.

Ekal Ka Rann was the first place that we visited on our road trip to Gujarat from Pune. Ekal ka Rann is far better than Great Rann of Kutch as it is less crowded and views it pretty good. Also it does not require a permit unlike the White Desert.

Pre-wedding photo-shoots at Ekal Ka Rann

Ekal Ka Rann is accessible through a village called Chobari and Ekal Mata ka Mandir is the last point until where your vehicle will go, after which you will need to walk to the Rann. Road condition after Chobari village is not very comfortable and post temple you can try taking your vehicle only if you find the road is dry or consult local people before you proceed.

After riding we went back to our resort and on the next day while visiting Dholavira our next destination of our trip, we stopped for a morning view at Ekal Ka Rann which was an amazing view.
