Sinhagad Fort - A Morning Monsoon Trekking
11:30:00
Sinhagad Fort is also unknown as “The Lion’s Fort” and most remarkable for the battle of Sinhagad in 1670.It is located at the center of a chain of other forts such as Rajgad, Purandar and Torna Fort. It was strategically built to provide natural protection due to its very steep slopes. The walls and bastions were constructed only at key places. There are two gates to enter the fort, the Kalyan Darwaza and Pune Darwaza which are positioned at the south east and north-east ends respectively.
Sinhagad is a hill fortress located at around 35 km southwest of the city of Pune, this fort is famous with those who love trekking - situated on a Bhuleshwar range hill of the Sahyadri Mountains and around 1300 metres above the sea level. And it is one of the most renowned weekend destinations for people of Pune and Mumbai. Well, people who don't want to trek and want to visit this fantastic fort to take pleasure in its exotic views, they can get to this place via car.
We visited this place long ago on a bike ride to Sinhagad in 2014 after which I visited the Sinhagad Valley for bird watching and had few weekend treks during summer. But this time me and my friend Javed decided to visit this place in a monsoon season for a scenic morning walk.
For more details on this please visit my old post of 2014.
