Harihareshwar Beach and Pradakshina Marg in Konkan
04:43:00
Harihareshwar is the well known town on the Konkon coast, it is also known as Dakshin Kashi (Kasi of South India). It is popular pilgrimage destination and beaches, also it is famous for Pradakshina Marg near the temple, which is a must visit place if you travelling in Diveagar/Harihareshwar.
We visited this place on 08th November 2014 from Pune in a group of 13 people to enjoy the weekend around the konkon coast of Murud, Diveagar and Harihareshwar. As we were aware that harihareshwar beach is not recommended for public as there are strong currents close to the beach, so we reserve the full time for Pradakshina Marg.
How to go to Harihareshwar from Wakad (Pune)
Harihareshwar is around 170 kms from wakad, so we have travel via Hinjewadi phase 3, Pirangut, Mulshi dam and Tamhini Ghat. After crossing Tamhini MIDC we headed towards Mangaon on the Goa highway then towards Mhasala and finally to Diveagar (right turn after Mhasala village). We travel to Harihareshwar after dropping the luggage at diveagar hotel. Road condition in Tahmini Ghat and the stretch between Goa highway and Diveagar is too bad and it take around double the expected time. Also this place seems to be remote so we avoided travelling in night.
We heard about a lot of Pradakshina Marg and was excited to visit, so soon after few group member visit the temple we left for this tour near temple. There is small way at the back side of the temple which take you to this marg. It has around 150 steps both side, but the climb down part is too scenic and interesting. These place should be avoided when there is high tide as there are high currents in harihareshwar coast.
While travelling to the back side we found many interesting sea caves which are too scenic. Also the waves hitting the rocks was beautiful to watch.
This place took around 1 hour as we had many people who are interested in photography's. Also it was the right time.
Pradakshina Marg can be visit anytime except high tide and afternoon.
