Venna Lake - A Gem of Mahabaleshwar & Foodie's Delight, Mapro Garden

Venna Lake is one of the most attractive and popular tourist spot of Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra state in India. The lake was constructed by Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, who was the king of Satara in the year 1842. Venna Lake is around 2 km from Mahabaleshwar city market and ST Bus stand; you can either take auto or make a nice walk during the day.

Kundalika Valley - A Mystic Mountain near Tamhini Ghat

Tamhini Ghat and Mulshi Dam region is one the place which comes alive during monsoon. Almost everyone in Pune plan to visit it in monsoon. Kundalika valley came into my mind after searching for Andharban Trek (The Dark Forest) and I was told as it is a strange place with two huge mountain walls separated by a narrow valley.

Wai village, a place which is most of the time ignore by all the casual traveler who travel to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar from Pune. Menavali Ghat and Dhom Dam/Lake is the most interesting place nearby Wai village. This is one of the favorite locations for Bollywood movies. Some of the movies which are shot here includes Swades, Chennai Express, Rab ne bana de Jodi, Singham, Dabangg.

One of my favorite places for a one day trip for all my guests is Pavana Dam and backwater area, this place is just 50 km away from Pimpri Chinchwad and around 70 Km away from Pune city. I visit this place almost every year after I heard about this place, the surrounding of the Pavana dam is so nourishing and refreshing in monsoon and it give best landscape view in summer. These place have best camping and boating area. I am sure you will love this place if you visit once.

Baneshwar waterfalls was suggested by many friend in rainy season but any how we missed it in this rainy season, so we thought we would visit "Baneshwar Van Udhyan" and have a round breakfast ride along side of Bhatghar Dam backwaters.

Tuesday Photo:Duckling

Watching ducks in the lake are always charming and especially when lots of duckling are all around you, then definitely it’s a happiest moments.

For this Tuesday, a photo of the duckling from Pawana Lake (Dam).

This lake is surrounded by four major forts Tung, Tikona, Lohagad and Visapur of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and best place nearby pune, it is around 60 KM from Pune and easily reachable on bike and car.
